The published conclusions are only part of what happened.
Failed programs leave especially thin trails. Important findings may remain with the original sponsor even as the asset changes hands and the team that ran it disperses. A later team may know that previous programs ended without knowing everything that led to those decisions, or may not know of their existence at all because they involved a different modality or phase. What if that weren’t the case? Taking a different approach means ensuring the next program doesn’t inherit the same blind spot.
